A large crowd gathered at the RNLI Lifeboat station in Arklow on New Year’s day morning, to give local woman Mary Hickey a send off as she makes her way around Ireland to raise funds for the RNLI.
Joined by fellow runners she set off at 9.05 and made their way up the South Quay, out to the coast road where they will finish today’s run in Greystones.
Day 1 has ended in Greystones Mary covered 31.42 miles in 7 hours, 11 minutes. Tomorrow Tuesday 2nd of January she will leave Greystones and head for Howth in County Dublin.
