New Year …time to volunteer! Studies show that engaging and working with and for your community is one of the most life affirming and beneficial things you can do and volunteering is one excellent way to get involved in your locality.
Your local NCBI shops in Bray and Arklow are looking for volunteers to work in their charity shops. The shops are part of the National sight loss agency’s nationwide network of stores, selling excellent quality second hand clothes, books and other items in a bid to raise much needed funds for the support and services provided by the charity.
There are 1,485 people with sight loss in Co. Wicklow.
Area Manager Majella Bond says “We always need volunteers. Our shops are getting busier and busier as more people choose to shop in them, reflecting the excellent quality and service we provide for an excellent cause. NCBI must raise €4 out of every €10 it spends on services. Our shops play a key part in the fundraising efforts”.
NCBI’s services include emotional support and counselling, low vision solutions like magnifiers, assistive technology advice and training, rehabilitation training (including independent living skills and mobility training ), a large print, audio and Braille library. The organisation also has an online shop with lots of practical solutions.
Majella adds “We have great volunteers and they always say that they get more back form volunteering that what they give so everybody wins. Any time you can give, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated.
So what’s stopping you! Get in touch with Majella on 087 7780307.
