Wicklow Rugby Club have been named as hosts of the 2018 Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Provincial Towns Cup final.
The Provincial Towns Cup was first established in 1888 and is one of the oldest trophies in the history of Irish rugby, with this season being the 93rd iteration of the competition.
Wicklow RFC revealed the news on social media, describing the competition as one that “captures the hearts and imagination of all involved and brings out a real sense of club and community unlike any other club competition, possibly in the country.
“There is no more treasured medal in Leinster Junior Rugby.”
The hosts themselves will be hoping to lift the trophy on their home ground. They have been drawn against North Kildare/Dundalk in the second round after beating Mullingar 53-0 this past weekend.
The final will be played at Ashtown Lane on Sunday April 16th.
