Are you guilty of charging mobile devices overnight?

Are you guilty of charging mobile devices overnight? The picture above was posted by the members of the Driffield fire service in Yorkshire on Monday night.

Do you ever charge your phone and put it under your pillow, or in bed with you, whilst you sleep? DON’T!

Whilst charging, devices heat up. It’s crucial that the heat is allowed to escape from the device to avoid it overheating and catching fire. By putting it in a hot place – such as under your pillow or in your bed – it prevents the escape of heat, and increases the risk of fire.

Avoid charging your devices at night – if you have to, put them on a hard surface such as a bedside table or chest of drawers – not on a carpeted floor.
