Carnew notes week February 26th


Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Dora Kenny, Coolfancy nee Molloy, New Line who died during the week, her remains were removed to Coolfancy on Monday evening and burial took place on Tuesday.

To the family and relatives of Kathleen Kelly, Garryhasten who died during the week and was buried on Saturday in Clonegal cemetery.


Congratulations to Kerrie Young, Bolinrush and Roy Sweeney, Bunclody on their engagement.

On Sunday February 25 the walk is at Croghan-Raheenleagh. Grade B, 10k, 3 hours, meeting at Tinahely at 10.00 or the Gap at 10.15. On March 4 walk will be from Glendalough to Glenmalure (part of Wicklow Way) Grade B+, 15km, 4 hours. Meeting at Glenmalure lodge at 10.00 (mini bus to Glendalough). Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

A Mousetacular Event of knitting projects will take place in Carnew Community Care on 28th February 2018 from 3.30pm – 4.30pm. Not to be missed, all are welcome to attend, suitable for all the family, due to demand and popularity extended viewings will take place on 1 st and 2nd March 2 pm – 4pm.
The World Day of Prayer service will be held at Carnew Community Care Centre on Friday 2nd March at 4pm, tea served at 3.30pm. All are welcome.

Scoil Aodán Naofa, Carnew National School is now accepting enrolments to its Junior Infants class for September 2018.

A Lenten mission will take place in the parish of Kilrush, Bunclody and Ferns parishes from 4th to 8th March at the same time in each parish, starting on the 4th at 7pm , Monday at 7.30pm Healing mass in Kilrush, Tuesday is at 7.30pm, Healing mass in Bunclody, Wednesday 7.30pm Healing mass in Ferns, Thursday at 7.30pm all are welcome to Kilrush for the closing of the Mission with Koinonia Community. Lets talk family, Lets be family.


The social dance in Askamore on 2nd March at 9.30pm with music by Blue Lace, admission €8, food served, all welcome.
