Carnew notes week February 5th

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Cathrine Mulhall, nee Kelly, Ballyellis who died during the week, her remains were removed to Askamore on Thursday for 11am mass, followed by burial in adjoining grave yard.

To the family and relatives of Ann Jordan, Millbank, Shillelagh, nee Byrne, The Terrace, Carnew who died on Sunday, her remains were removed to Shillelagh on Wednesday for 12 noon, followed by burial in adjoining church yard.

To Kay Porter, Kilcavan her family and relatives on the death of her mother recently in Dublin.

Carnew First Responders next training day for new members is on Sunday 25th February in Bray, anyone wishing to join or wanting more information contact Patricia on 0872413293.

THANK YOU

Askamore Community Council would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the Stephen Murphy concert a great success, thanks to all the performers, ticket sellers, MC jim Gilbert and Byrne Bros for the sound, the profit raised was €1,760.

SPLIT THE POT

The winner of Scoil Aodan Noafa, Carnew Split the Pot was Bernadette Doran winning €249, tickets are only €2 from the school or local shops.

GAA LOTTO

Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 3,13,18,31, lucky dips were Luke Byrne, Kilcavan Upper. Margaret Doran, Croneyhorn. Damien Osborne. Mona Cooke, c/o Garry Doran. The next draw is 12th February in Sinnott’s and the jackpot is €10,000. Tickets only €2 from players or local shops.

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

On Feb 11 the walk is at Lowbawn-Little Sugarloaf. Grade B, 14km, 3.5 hours. Meeting in Tinahely at 10.00. On Sunday February 18 the walk is at Slievebawn-Tomduff. Grade B, 10k, 3 hours, meeting at Bunclody at 10.00. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

BALLYELLIS NATIONAL SCHOOL ENROLMENT

Enrolment forms are now available for those wishing to enrol in September 2018.  If you know of anyone wishing to have a child enrolled in Ballyellis please inform them that these forms are now available. BENEFIT NIGHT 
Valentines Benefit Night in aid of Arklow Cancer Support on Saturday 10th February in The Gap Pub Ballythomas. Music by the DTs, finger food and raffle with great spot prizes.

The next bingo is on 11th and 25th February at 2.30pm in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew, all welcome.

Camogie/GAA Registration:
Kilrush Camogie Club and Coiste na nÓg will hold their registration night for players and members on Friday, February 9th 7.30-8.30 in Ballyroebuck pitch.
“Split the Pot” Winner
The Winner of this weeks “Split the Pot” is The Redmond Family, The Burrow amount  191euro.   Congratulations to all and we thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church..Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.
