Rhys Gorman has rubbished talk of Bray Wanderers being one of the favourites to be relegated from the Premier Division, saying he was ‘baffled’ by the notion that the Seagulls are tipped for the drop.
Dave Mackey’s men have been instilled as second favourites to be relegated to the First Division following a troublesome 2017 and a turbulent preseason.
Speaking on the Between the Stripes podcast, Gorman – who signed for the club from Longford Town in January – played down the suggestion that Bray may struggle.
“It’s baffling to be talked about like that because, like you said, the Greeners [Aaron Greene] and the Gary McCabes staying on […] it’s a really competitive squad.
“I don’t understand where all that talk is coming from. We have our own internal goals but finishing 6th last year with all that went on […] we’ll be looking to build on that with the guts of the squad that stayed.”
Bray Wanderers begin their Airtricity League Premier Division campaign when they travel to Oriel Park to take on Dundalk on Friday night. Kick-off in that game is at 19:45.
