St Patricks GAA notes week February 26th

Thank You to All who supported the St Patrick’s Annual Dinner Dance 2018 in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow on Saturday 24th February 2018 at 8pm sharp with Music by Quest for Ted till late

It was fantastic to see a good turnout. Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves with the dance floor full all night – Thunderstruck went down well. Thank you to the organising committee: John Smith, Nicola McGettigan, Mick Murphy and John Gill. On the night the victorious ladies team received their awards for the League and Championship victories and the and Hurling teams for their Leinster victories. Tara Gorman on behalf of St Patrick’s GAA presented outgoing Ladies Chairperson Caroline Courtney and outgoing Ladies Treasurer Nicola McGettigan with flowers.

Well done to club coach Brian McSorley for organising, who received a donation from the Club Chairperson John Gill following the dinner dance raffle on Saturday night.


The first game of the year in the Division 1 Football League between St Patrick’s Wicklow V Hollywood took place in Dunbur on Saturday at 4pm with referee John O Brien. An entertaining game for the time of year with missed opportunities for both sides with the final result 0-11 each. There were senior debuts for Eli Graham, Patrick O’Keane, Jack Dunne, Ronan Murray, Rossa Marron and Cian Reynolds.

Congratulations to all involved with Wicklow Ladies on keeping their unbeaten run intact with a Final score from a sunny Roundwood and a happy Wicklow ladies camp. Wicklow 3-16 Antrim 1-3.

A poor week end for the men’s county teams with defeat for the hurlers in Mayo, 1-22 to 2-16.

The footballers came second best to unbeaten Laois in Joule Park, Aughrim, 1-16 to 0-10.

As part of club development and potential additional playing facilities, we are requesting that each age group team support the lotto selling rota by providing a team of 4 on their designated Saturday.
