Movie screening: I Am Not a Witch (2017) – Mermaid Arts Theatre, Bray – 8pm
After a minor incident in her village, 9-year-old orphan Shula is exiled to a witch camp where she is told that if she tries to escape she will be transformed into a white goat.

This impressive debut from Zambian-born female writer-director Rungano Nyoni satirises the clash between modernity and superstition in a small African (Cert:12A)

Tuesday 13th

Virgin Media Community Awareness Evening – Arklow Bay Hotel, Arklow – 5pm-7pm
Virgin Media are hosting a drop-in Community Awareness event to inform residents about their Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Network build, provide information and answer any questions residents may have. The event will give information on Virgin Media’s network expansion which will provide new digital services for the residents of Arklow.

Last month, Virgin Media switched on free public Wifi to provide social and economic benefits to shoppers, tourists, students and the general public in Arklow.

Smiley Pancake Day – Grand Hotel, Wicklow Town – 2-4pm
As part of the national Mental Health Ireland #SmileyPancake campaign,Wicklow Mental Health Association will have pancakes at the Grand Hotel for everyone to dress with a smile with sweets, cream and toppings. They welcome children, parents and grandparents to come along, have fun and add their smiles to our pancakes.

Met Opera: L’Elisir d’Amore – Whale Theatre, Greystones – 7pm (doors open 6:30pm)
Pretty Yende debuts a new role at the Met as the feisty Adina, opposite Matthew Polenzani, who enthralled Met audiences as Nemorino in 2013 with his ravishing “Una furtiva lagrima.”

Bartlett Sher’s production is charming, with deft comedic timing, but also emotionally revealing. Domingo Hindoyan conducts.
