Members of the Irish Army are proving very popular in Roundwood.

While clearing the local footpaths they learned about a very special birthday party, not only did they clear the passage way to the front door, they joined in the party.

Maura Doyle was celebrating her 100th birthday at Mullinvigue in Roundwood on Wednesday afternoon and got the surprise of her life when members from the 7th Infantry Battallion, Cathal Brugha, Rathmines called in to wish her happy birthday.

Maura was born on Thursday the 7th of March 1918.

Granddaughter Claire said “She was delighted, not only did they clear the path to the door they brought her a card and a cake, listened to her stories and even stayed for tea, they absolutely made her day, she could not believe it, we can’t thank them enough.”
