Active Retirement

We hope everyone stayed safe and well during the recent bad weather.  Chair Yoga will recommence on Tuesday March 13th. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Our trip to Wexford will take place on March 19th. Transport will be provided, details at next meeting.

Community Games
Athletics training is busy every Monday night with the children preparing for various events including the County Cross Country in Avondale on Monday March 26th.

Our area finals take place on Monday April 30th with the County finals in Shillelagh in Saturday June 16th.

The schools are busy doing art and handwriting and will be finalised next week beginning March 5th. Thank you as always to their ongoing support from staff and teachers. They will go to a semi-final where the results will be back in April and the overall final takes place Sunday April 22nd in Dunlavin.

The County swimming and gymnastics finals take place Saturday March 10th in Arklow.

The County talent takes place Sunday 8th April in Glenealy.

Our area girls U13 and U10 soccer are through to Leinster zones in Kildare in Sunday April 15th.

A busy few weeks ahead with the first National Festival weekend taking place in UL Limerick May 25th – 27th.

The County U14 Quiz takes place on Saturday March 24th in Aughrim NS.

The County Chess finals also take place in Aughrim NS on the afternoon of Saturday March 24th


New to You Thrift Shop

Helping towards the upkeep of the Pavilion, Fishing Park and village of Aughrim.   We are appealing for donations of saleable goods – bric a Brac, clothing, small pieces of furniture toys etc.  If you have something that you have no further use for but feel it would suit someone else please donate.  Our opening hours are 10am to 1pm2pm to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturday.  Thank you.  Aughrim Tidy Towns.  See us on Facebook “Aughrim New to You Thrift Shop”


Church of the Sacred Heart

There will be Mass every Thursday in the Church of the Sacred Heart at 8.00.pm. during the holy season of Lent.  Mass will also be celebrated in this Church on (First Friday) the 2nd.  March at 10.00.am. Holy Communion will be brought to the sick and house bound after
this Mass.


Pub Quiz and St Patrick’s Day Parade

Everybody is welcome on Friday March 9th in O’Toole’s for the St Patrick’s Pub Quiz. The quiz is organized by the Aughrim Business Association and starts at 8.30pm.

A table of 4 costs €20. Nice prizes to be won, all proceeds go towards organizing the Parade.

The St Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday  March 17th starts at 11.15 at Tinakilly Bridge. Floats, Walking Groups, Vintage Cars and Tractors are invited to join in and make the parade a festive event.

Refreshments, demonstrations of some of the walking groups and free activities for children afterwards in the Pavilion.

The numbers: 5, 9, 10 and 24 were drawn in the sports club lotto on Monday last February 26th.  Match three winner was: Rory & Geraldine O’Brien.  The jackpot was won by Sharon Keogh, Rednagh Hill. The jackpot is €1500.
