Author Emma Hannigan has passed away

Bray author Emma Hannigan has passed away following a brave battle with cancer.

Her death was announced this afternoon.

Emma announced last month that doctors had done all they could do and she did not have long to live.

The 45-year-old Best Seller was first diagnosed with cancer in 2007, In 2005,  she discovered that she was carrying the Brca 1 cancer gene. This meant she had an 85pc chance of developing breast cancer and a 50pc chance of developing ovarian cancer.
