Wicklow School of Music & Drama presents Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jnr – 7th & 8th April

This Easter, come and see Disney’s favourite little Mermaid, you can be part of her world under the sea! The all singing and dancing cast of Musical theatre students from the Wicklow school of Music and drama will keep all the family entertained. Based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Disney Film . Music by Alan Menken.

A Night at the Opera – Presented by Jade Phoenix – 12th April

Bringing together some of Ireland’s brightest young talent, A Night At The Opera is a student showcase that sees much-loved opera classics being given a whole new lease of life.

This potent mixture of old masters and new blood features composers such as Mozart, Puccini and Verdi as well as some beloved musical theatre ballads being reinvigorated by some of the brightest lights of the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

For this unique, one-off performance, The Whale are very proud to welcome sopranos Jade Phoenix, Corina Ignat and Caroline Behan, mezzo-soprano Eimear McCarthy, tenors Vladimir Sima and Berus Komarschela, and baritone Dylan Rooney and bass/baritone Matthew Mannion.

The Songs and Stories of Joni Mitchell: Shadows and Light – 14th April

The three piece group Shadows and Light are bringing their captivating show on the iconic singer – songwriter Joni Mitchell to the Whale Theatre, Greystones. Stunning interpretations of her music are played by vocalist Maura Vambeck, Dave Mulligan on guitar and Paul Enright on keyboard.

The show features songs from the huge Joni repertoire, including classics from the landmark ‘Blue’ album, along with some of the lesser known numbers like Hejira, Secret Place and Hissing of Summer Lawns.

Cello Ireland with special guest Liam O Maonlai presenting Cello Voce – 21st April

Cello Voce is a collaborative project of Cello Ireland’s which brings together five of Ireland’s most innovative and original cellist/singer/songwriters: Vyvienne Long, Mary Barnecutt, (Mary and the Pigeons), Anna-Mieke Bishop, and Aleka Potinga.

They will be joined by the cello quartet of Cello Ireland and Liam O Maonlai, a singer whose musical journey has brought him all over the world, exploring the indigenous music of Africa, India, America, Australia and Japan. The group have come together to present new music and new settings of original and traditional work.

Cello Voce is a celebration of the cello and the voice, incorporating a diversity of styles and genres as well as our own traditional sean nos heritage. The resulting concert performance in this wonderful new venue will see this new and exciting collaboration come to life onstage in Greystones!
