Motorists urged to take care on roads as temperatures drop

With roads already hazardous with snow, motorists are being urged to drive with extra caution tonight and tomorrow morning.

Temperatures will drop as low as -3 in some areas. With the snow melting and the roads already wet conditions will be treacherous.

Snow and ice remain an issue in some areas and road users are advised to stick to the main routes. Secondary routes and hills are still impassable in many places.

Forecast for tonight

Tonight will bring a mix of cloud and clear spells with just a few isolated showers. Cold with frost and ice forming in parts as temperatures dip to between -3 and +2 Celsius, coldest inland. Mist and fog will form also in light variable breezes.

Mist, fog and frost clearing on Tuesday morning. Some bright or sunny spells during the day but mostly cloudy with some scattered showers spreading from the west. A few of the showers may be heavy. Highs of 5 to 8 Celsius in mostly light variable breezes.
