Mothers Day Concert – Music from the Movies by The Degani Ensemble at The Whale Theatre
The versatile Degani Ensemble presents a family programme of popular movie themes in special arrangements by founder member Alan Smale, and featuring Alan on violin and Ruby Ashley, oboe soloist.
The concert highlights include Stanley Myers unforgettable ‘Cavatina’, from ‘The Deer Hunter’, music by Ennio Morricone, the evocative ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ from ‘The Mission’, and Nino Rota’s theme from ‘The Godfather’.
No concert of music from the movies would be complete without John Williams, and his violin solo from ‘Schindler’s List’ will be performed, along with another great modern violin solo ‘Ladies in Lavender’ by Nigel Hess.
