Juvenile GAA

The U11 hurlers had mixed fortunes this week, the Div 1 team beat Kilcoole in a very competitive game, while the Div2 team went down to a very strong Tinahely team. The U7 & U9 hurlers enjoyed a great blitz in Avondale, and would like to thank the Avondale club for hosting. The U13 football team had a facile 5-19 to 0-01 win over Clara Gaels. The Derry Gaels 2017 U15 team were presented with their medals at a function in Arklow last week. None other than John Horan, the New GAA President was on hand to do the honours on the night. a big thank to Brian Moran and Martin Fitzgerald, County Chairman for organising this. Lastly the club would like to congratulate Ciara Connolly on winning the County U12 camogie skills competition, she will now represent the village in Croke Park on all- Ireland hurling semi-final day. Ciara has been a big part of the club hurling and camogie teams for a number years and is a gifted player, we wish her all the best on her big day.

Congratulations to Ciara Connoly who won the County Skills Camogie Award in Ballinakill on Thursday last. Ciara has played a big part in our juvenile teams over the last number of years and she fully deserved her win on the day. Ciara goes on now to represent her school and county in the All-Ireland series games during the summer and we wish her all the best.

Another of our players Ian Clancy was part of the victorious Scoil Brid Carnew team who won  the School county final last Monday week. Congratulations to Ian on this achievement.

Our adult team played Coolboy away last Friday night in the League and after a slow start got right back in to the game were in front midway through the first half. However Coolboy hit a purple patch and were in front by 3 half time. This trend continued in the second half and we were well beaten on a score line of Coolboy 0-20 Aughrim 2-7.
