Tidy Towns Groups are asking for posters not to be erected during referendum campaign

Avoca, Blessington, Glenealy and Rathdrum Tidy Towns Groups is asking campaigners on both sides of the upcoming referendum on the Eighth Amendment to refrain from putting up posters.

The Groups say the posters are viewed negatively by Tidy Towns Judges and have asked that posters should not to be erected on approach to the areas.

During the last General Election Avoca and Glenealy led the campaign to keep their villages poster free.

The ESB are also warning against the placing of posters on electricity poles/structures during the forthcoming Referendum campaign. Any unauthorised contact or near contact with the electricity networks can result in serious injury or fatality to persons using electricity poles for this purpose. Similar risks apply when posters are being removed.
