A warning issued yesterday for 269 customers supplied by the Kiltegan Water Supply Scheme in Wicklow not to consume water from their supply, remains in place.

The HSE, Irish Water and Wicklow County Council have issued a Do Not Consume Notice for all users on the Kiltegan Water Supply Scheme — this is due to elevated levels of nitrate in the water supply.

The notice stresses to not to use mains water supply for bottle fed infants.

They have warned that this is not a Boil Water Notice as boiling the water will not be sufficient to make the water fit for consumption.

A water tanker is in place outside Katie Lowes Pub to provide an alternative water supply to customers.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
