Gardai hope note may establish disappearance of Jastine

Gardai are hoping a note left in the car of Mark Hennessy will establish the motive behind the murder of Jastine Valdez.

They now believe she died within an hour of being abducted close to her home in Enniskerry.

Investigators can find no link between Hennessy and the victim.

Ms Valdez’s body was discovered in thick gorse land in the Puck’s Castle area of Rathmichael on Monday afternoon.

Earlier on Monday gardai found a purse, ID card and a sock which belonged to Jastine Valdez.

The State Pathologist carried out a preliminary examination at the scene and the body was removed to the city morgue where a post-mortem will take place to establish the time and cause of death.

A short video which was believed to be recorded on Saturday night at a pub in Ballybrack shows Hennessy speaking to a group of local women and dancing.

Vigil’s were held all around the country yesterday evening in memory of Ms Valdez.

A Vigil will be held at the clock tower in Enniskerry this evening at 7pm.

Gardai have asked for privacy for both families involved in the case.
