Gardai in Bray are investigating a shooting incident in the town that occured just before midnight last night.
It has been reported that a family living on the upper Dargle road were woken by loud bangs outside their house.
When they looked out their window, they saw an individual wearing a balaclava with a firearm.
The individual fired up to six shots into the front door of the family home but fled the scene before Gardaí arrived.
Gardaí have said investigations into the incident are ongoing, and are appealing for witnesses – if you have any information please contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.
Sinn Féin TD for Wicklow John Brady has condemned a shooting, Speaking following the incident, Brady said: The home belongs to a young mother who lives there with her two young children.
“It is important to say that this was a case of mistaken identity.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to contact Bray Garda Station immediately.”
