The launch of Arklow Seabreeze Music & Arts Festival 2018 will take place on Thursday 28th June at 7.30pm in the old Food court (now community space) Bridgewater Shopping Centre where details of this year’s exciting programme will be unveiled.
Arklow Seabreeze Festival has been running for over 30 years and is currently one of the biggest community based Festivals on the East Coast. In addition to providing free entertainment & fun activities for the people of Arklow, it is a major boost to tourism and retail in our town. The festival is also a platform for local talent and brings up to 20,000 people onto the Main Street of Arklow over its duration in July each year. This year’s Festival runs from Sun 8th July – Sun 22nd July.
As part of this year’s Seabreeze festival we are announcing a new event “Arklow’s Fittest family”
Similar to the tv programme, families will be pitted against each other in different challenges in an effort to win a 6 month family membership to The Bay Health and Leisure club and €100 in cash. The 1st round eliminator challenge will take place over the festival weekend on Friday 20th of July, with 3 teams going forward to the finals on the Sunday 22nd.
Event rules
Each team must be a family and consist of 4 people
At least 1 team member must be a parent/adult & all entrants must be over 16
Teams must contain at least 1 female member
Entire team must all be available for both days
you must all be medically fit to enter and sign a disclaimer
The Bridgewater Seabreeze Festival Princess competition will be held on Sunday 8th July in the Midway Bar, Lounge and Restaurant at 8pm. Anyone over the age of 18yrs can enter, names to be given to Mary Burke (Secretary) 087 9259504 or Tina O’Sullivan (Chairperson) 087 9093848 or indeed any committee member. Prizes to the value of €1000 will be up for grabs with the Winner and Runner-up receiving prizes. Mr. Seabreeze will also feature on the selection night of the Princess competition.
In the run up to the main weekend the annual battle for Swinging Pubs Champions for 2018 will take place, this will run from Tuesday 10th right up to Thursday 19th July, where the final night will take place in The Bridge Hotel and the winners will be announced. Taking part will be: The Olde Ship, Darcy Mc Gees, The Gin Mill, Arklow Bay Hotel, John Joes, Sally O’ Brien’s, Kenny’s of the Gallery, Christies, The Midway Bar, Lounge & Restaurant. Please come out and support this wonderful festival which is free for the entire weekend.
Another popular feature will be the Artisan Food and Crafts which will be held on the Main Street on Sunday 22nd July, the committee are asking trade stands/stall holders to contact them on 087 2886845 to secure your place. A great line up of music is in store with something to suit all tastes.
