Mass of the Angels

Mass of the Angels will be celebrated on Saturday June 16th at 8pm in Church of the Sacred Heart Aughrim.  This special celebration of Mass will be offered for all the families in the locality who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, lost a baby around the time of birth or a child who died young. Hymns during mass will be sung by the Avondale Voices Choir.

Art Exhibition for World Meeting of Families

The Church of the Sacred Heart, Aughrim is hosting a family album art exhibition for display at the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in August 2018.  Families (both children and adults) are invited by the parish to create their own artwork on the theme of FAMILY LIFE IN IRELAND.  Full details on the requirements for the art works are posted in our church and in local shops in Aughrim.  The work should be submitted between 01-16 June 2018, to any member of the parish council and will be displayed in our parish church during summer months of 2018.  The parish will photograph the submissions for display as a digital art exhibition during the World Meeting of Families in Dublin on 21-26 August.

Community Games

It has been a busy few weeks with preparation for our County Wicklow Athletic Track and Field finals.  These take place on Saturday June 16th in Shillelagh. Parade at 9.30am and games begin shortly after.

Training continues every Monday 7-8 in the community field.  Some of our children were involved in the National Festival in Limerick last weekend. Paraic and Caoilin did great in the Marathon.  Louis, Elliott and Jamie with performance in the singing, swimming and art. Well done!.

The U12 cross country girls team came third with Sarah and Isabelle bringing back medals to our area and county. A wonderful achievements for our children.

We also have our own Kevin Moran taking part in the National Special Olympic Finals in Dublin on the weekend of 15-17th June and we wish him all the best in the running.

Some of our local teams U12 Girls Soccer, U14 Camogie, U11 and U14 Tag Rugby are training for the Leinster Zone finals which take place on Saturday June 23rd in Dublin.

GAA News

A big thank you to all those who took part in our unique Run the Rock fundraiser last Saturday at the Brooke Lodge Hotel Macreddin. Over 150 men, women and children tested themselves against both the short and long courses and lived to tell the tale. Club member Donal Lenihan once again had this event organised to perfection and the hard working Ann and Niicki provided much needed refreshments for all those taking part. Thanks to all who helped out with stewarding, parking, water stations and registrations. This event goes from strength to strength each year and provides much needed funds for our own club and Wicklow Hospice.

Field Day

This years field day will be held in the G.A.A. pitch on Sunday June 17th .All the usual attractions will be there including Juvenile matches, children’s races etc. something for everyone .


The numbers: 3, 9, 11 and 22 were drawn in the sports club lotto on Monday last May 28th. Match three winners were: Lexie Allman, John Crowley and Kirsty & Mick Lott. The jackpot was not won.   The jackpot is €3450.

Active Retirement
Our Vintage Garden Party takes place this coming Tuesday June 5th. Meeting at Lawless’ Hotel at 12.30pm. Yoga will resume the following Tuesday June 12th.
