Free interrail ticket project goes live

Sinn Féin MEP Liadh Ní Riada is urging young people to sign up for the EU project offering free interrailing tickets to 18 year olds.

The Ireland South MEP, who sits on the Culture and Education Committee, made the call as the scheme officially opened today.

“Earlier this year I announced that this project was coming and urged Irish young people to be ready to apply for it,” she said.

“The response my office received from people eager to learn more about the scheme was huge so I am pleased to announce that the application process has officially opened.

“It will remain open until the 26th of June but as it is on a first come first served basis I am urging Irish young people to apply as soon as possible.

“You can apply for free on the Discover EU website here.

“This project provides a unique opportunity for young Irish people to explore Europe over a period of up to three weeks at a time of their choosing.

“Nothing broadens the mind like travelling and this project will help young people immerse themselves in an array of European cultures, so be sure to seize this opportunity to get out there and discover Europe.”
