Moneystown NS will host a week long Summer School from Aug 13th to 17th. Children aged 5-16 are welcome to come along and learn to play some traditional Irish music on a variety of instruments. CARLINGFORD OUTING
There will be a day outing to Carlingford cruise & Mourne mountain tour on Friday 31st August 2018. Pick up Roundwood Parish Hall 9.30am. Tea & Scones in the Nalley Inn Dunleer. Visit Carlingford town, depart Carlingford to Greenore Port. Ferry crossing from Greenore to Greencastle across Carlingford Lough. Tour of Mourne mountains, Rostrevor, Hilltown & Newry for shopping. MONEYSTOWN DANCE
The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 10th August from 9.30pm until 12 midnight. Teas served, refreshments also available asnd door prizes. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive linedancing etc. The Wicklow Man will also playon Friday 14th September
PATTERN DAY
The annual Pattern Day Walk from Moneystown Community Centre to Lady’s Well Ballymanus Upper on Carrick Mountain will take place Sunday 19th August, leaving Moneystown at 6 pm. The route is five and a half miles in total (good walking shoes recommended and no dogs allowed!). Suitable for older children accompanied by adults. The route is along the road and then on Coillte roads. Lady’s well is an ancient holy well that is marked on the Neville Maps of 1760 as an important site. The well was rediscovered in 2013 and there has been a walk every year on or close to the original pattern day – August 15th. There will be a short talk on the history and traditions of the holy wells and also relevant local history. If you want to play music, read a poem or sing a song feel free to join in as singing, dancing etc were all part of the traditions of pattern days and visits to the well. NATURE WALKS
Join the Wicklow Mountains National Park Guides on a children’s nature walk at 11am on Wednesdays in July & August to explore various aspects of the National Park. Suitable for all age groups. An adult must stay with their children and be prepared to join in! No booking or charges apply. Meet at the Information Office near the Upper Lake in Glendalough. Topics to be covered include:, Wednesday 25th July: Birds, Wednesday 1st August: Trees, Wednesday 8th August: Bugs, Wednesday 15th August: Mammals, Wednesday 22nd August: History. Plans are well underway for the return of the much loved Roundwood Festival 2018 running from Thursday 2nd August to Sunday 5th August. So keep these dates free and keep an eye on this space for more details of what’s on and where!!
ACTIVE RETIREMENT HOLIDAY
The Roundwood Active Retirement holiday will take place from the Monday the 24th September until the Friday 28th September to The Tara Hotel in Waterford. Anyone interested should pay their deposit to Betty or Molly before the 1st July.
OUR LADYS ISLAND
