Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat launched to assist yacht taking on water

Wicklow all-weather lifeboat Annie Blaker launched shortly after 3.10pm on Sunday, after the skipper of a yacht contacted the Coast Guard by marine VHF radio requesting assistance, as his vessel was taking on water.

The lifeboat under the command of Coxswain Nick Keogh was alongside the casualty six minutes after launching, one mile north of Wicklow harbour. Crew member Dave O Leary was transferred onto the yacht to assess the boat and help establish a towline.

The yacht was towed back to Wicklow harbour without further incident and the two sailors were landed safely ashore on the East pier at 3.30pm.

The crew on the callout were Coxswain Nick Keogh, Mechanic Brendan Copeland, Ciaran Doyle, Terry Sillery, Dave O Leary and Graham Fitzgerald.
