All for Lena

Friends, relations and supporters turned out in huge numbers at Glenealy Community hall on Friday evening to welcome home World Cup Hockey hero Lena Tice.

The Irish hockey team won the hearts of the nation last week-end when they made it to the World Cup final.

Against all the odds they overcame India and Spain before losing out to the mighty Dutch team.

The former St.Gerard’s student has also represented Ireland at cricket.

Lena thanked the crowd for their support and said the last few weeks have just been amazing.

Local man Tommy Glynn joked ” I wonder would Lena be interested in joining the camogie team, there would be no harm in asking.”

Grandmother Susan Philips said “We are extremely proud of Elena and are delighted this evening the whole community have came out to support her, it is just an amazing evening.”
