A contract has been awarded for the building of a new primary school in Greystones, according to Social Democrats Councillor Jennifer Whitmore.
Contractors are due to commence construction at the Charlesland site in two weeks time, with an aim for the new school to be opened by September 2019.
Cllr. Whitmore, who is chair of the board for Greystones Community National School (CNS), said the project is a big milestone.
“It’s 5 years since I began to work with local parents and other politicians to get a new primary school for the locality, and its fantastic to see it become a reality. The new school will be state-of-the-art and will house 24 classrooms and 2 special needs units.
“I look forward to working with the parents, staff, KWETB and the Department to deliver a fantastic new primary school to Greystones,” she added.
