Croke Park trip

Up to 115 made the trip to Croke Park for the Ladies All Ireland final., which was a fabulous day out. Thanks to Anne Longmore and Paul Ryan for organising it all. Congratulations to Dublin for making it two in a row.

U9 Football Blitz

Well done the the Bray Emmets Team for winning the cup, and congratulations to all who madew the blitz on Saturday such a memorable occasion

Ladies Sevens

Congratulations to the Bray Emmets ladies  who took part in the All Ireland Club 7-a-side championship at the weekend out in Naomh Mearnóg. The girls narrowly missed out on progressing to the final round by just 2 points. A huge thank you to John, Paul and Sandra for organising and supporting the ladies for the day.

Our upcoming fixtures

Our Junior Hurlers play Avondale in the final on Sunday 23rd at midday in Arklow. Please come out and support the team. Our U17 footballers play in the B Championship semi-final on Monday, time and venue TBC.

Calling all TY students and beginner coaches

We are running a joint Transition Year (For students) and an Adult Foundation course with Cuala on Thurs 20th, Friday 21st and Sat 22nd September 2018.

An Award 1 Child course will take place in October commencing Wed 17th Oct more details to follow.

The Foundation Award is the introductory award for coaches of Gaelic Games. The course is aimed at beginner coaches and will enable participants to assist a coach in the organisation of activities to develop hurling or football.

The course is covers 4 key modules, as well as introductory and conclusion modules. These four modules are:

  • Introduction to Games
  • Skill Development
  • Movement Skills
  • Coaching Children, Youths and Adults

Coaching Competencies to be developed

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Assist a coach in organising a programme of games and skill development activities appropriate to each participant’s needs and abilities
  • Identify the skills of hurling/Camogie and Football
  • Assist a coach in organising progressive activities (drills and fun games) to develop five key skills
  • Assist a coach in organising progressive activities to develop movement skills appropriate to Gaelic Games
  • Assist a coach in organising and managing players for an effective practice session
  • Build Rapport, Observe, Analyse, Explain, Provide Demonstration and Provide Positive Feedback to Players

Course Philosophy

The GAA is committed to implementing an integrated Coach Education Programme with a view to maximising participation, optimising playing standards and ensuring that players’ needs are catered for in a balanced way.
