A petition to develop a greenway connecting Wicklow Town, Newcastle, Kilcoole, and Greystones, has reached 10,000 signatures.
With over 10,000 signatures reached on Saturday and the backing of Minister Simon Harris, the East Coast Greenway Group hope to announce more with regards to their progress in the coming days.
The greenway would enable people to safely walk or cycle between the towns and would provide much needed protection against the erosion that has been plaguing the coast.
Many Wicklow residents have expressed their support of the proposed greenway, with many citing the coastal erosion as their main reason for backing the proposal.
