SEASONAL REMINDER TO LANDOWNERS
HEDGE CUTTING SEASON: NOW UNTIL 28 FEBRUARY 2019
Hedge cutting season is now underway.
In order to comply with Wildlife Acts, you may only cut hedges from now till 28 February.
Landowners must ensure that trees, hedges or other vegetation do not interfere with roads.
This also applies to footpaths, so it is particularly important in residential estates.
Branches which jut out onto the road should be cut back.
Dead and unsafe trees should be removed.
Hedges should be cut and trimmed.
Professional advice on the condition of roadside trees should be obtained from time to time.
Special care must be taken with Japanese knotweed.
Location of Japanese knotweed must be reported to Greystones MD Engineer.
Maintenance of roadside vegetation by landowners in a requirement of the Roads Act.
Wicklow County Council will be taking a positive approach in enforcing this legislation.
