Wicklow TD Simon Harris will outline a strategy to have new abortion laws in place by January 1st.
The new laws, which were voted in last May, will allow for abortion without restriction up to 12 weeks into pregnancy and later under limited circumstances.
Harris has also confirmed the government’s commitment to providing abortions for free.
There are also plans to provide safe areas where women can access abortions without experiencing harassment or intimidation.
The legislation will be introduced into the Oireachtas next week.
