The Wicklow Hospice Foundation will be holding a Glen to Glen walk from Glendalough to Glenmalure on the 23rd of September in aid of the Wicklow Hospice building fund.
The scenic route will take walkers from the historically rich monastic settlement through the lakes and hills of the Wicklow Mountains before finally reaching the glacial valley of Glenmalure.
The Wicklow Hospice Foundation have also announced Arklow Credit Union as their main sponsor for the walk and have thanked them for their support.
A spokesperson for Wicklow Hospice has said “Not only will you enjoy the fabulous scenery with time for reflection, but we will be walking in the footsteps of our forebears. At the same time, we will be making a powerful contribution to the community by helping to provide much-needed funds to support the Hospice.”
“As you know, many of us have experienced the physical and emotional effects of a loved one suffering from a terminal illness and the devastating impact it has on them and their family and friends. This walk offers us an opportunity to make a difference in their memory.”
The construction of the new 15-bedroom hospice began last June and is set to be completed in 2019.
