Carnew notes week October 1st

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Johnny Kinsella, Croneyhorn who died during the week and was buried on Thursday in Tomacork cemetery.
To the family and relatives of Kathleen Bradley nee Elliott, Conventry who died recently.
The next bingo is on Sunday 7th October at 2.30pm in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew, all welcome.
The winner of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot of 21st September was Patricia Nolan winning €276, tickets only €2 from the school or local shops.
Carnew ploughing Association will hold their annual ploughing match on Saturday 13th October at 12.30pm on lands kindly sponsored by Kevin Doran, Coolboy, entries to Kevin on 0876732437.
Carnew GAA lotto was won by Scott Molloy Kilcavan winning €3,800, numbers were 12,17,20,21, lucky dips were Tim Sweeney, c/o Willie Driver. John Doyle, The Barracks. Ciara Doran, c/o Margaret. P.J. Hennessy. The next draw is 8th October in Jim Byrne’s and the jackpot is €2,000. Well done Scott.
Carnew Heritage club would like to say a big big thank you to everyone for their support and all those who helped in anyway at their annual working day on Sunday 16th September and at the disco on the Friday and the Counrty music night on the Saturday, it was a brilliant weekend and a very well done to all who worked so hard before hand, at the weekend and afterwards, a special thanks to all the sponsors, your support is greatly appreciated.
Details of Tinahely Walking Club Sunday walks for the next two weeks: Oct 7: Rathwood Home & Garden Centre, Tullow. This popular destination has now extended its walking trail to 5km. This is a promotional-inaugural walk we have been invited to join. Refreshments served. Meet at 10.00am in Rathwood. Oct 14: Ballivore/Fraughan, B, 11km, 3.5 hours. Meet at Glenmalure Lodge at 10.00. As usual, please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. (For Rathwood, sensible shoes and clothes will be OK.)

Ballyellis National School “Split the Pot”

Friday 28th September  winner of   “Split the Pot” is  DJ McGovern, Ballytarsna –   winning €186.   We thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church.Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.
