GoFundMe campaign raises €13,000 for Bray Lakers after fire

Over €13,000 has been raised in aid of Bray Lakers just two days after a fire destroyed a fleet of buses and damaged their facility.

The special needs facility in Bray was severely damaged in an overnight fire last week and has been deemed to be in an unsafe condition.

Manager Anthony Finnegan told RTÉ Radio that the damage is “going to be devastating for our members.”

“These buses are absolutely critical for our purposes. All of the buses have been destroyed.”

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault somewhere in the building. Severe damage was also done to the building’s art room and kitchen.

Wicklow TD Simon Harris and Minister for Disability Issues, Finian McGrath, will meet with management today as a temporary venue and transport are discussed.

Bray Lakers, located on Seapoint Road in Bray, is a special needs facility with over 400 members and 150 volunteers and staff.
