The Francesco Amico Quartet (Whale Theatre, Greystones)

Native of Italy and now living now in Greystones, Francesco was introduced to guitar by his first teacher, who taught him jazz fingerstyle, and to jazz composition and arrangement by Bruno Tommaso and Giancarlo Gazzani. Since 2000, he has studied with guitarist Mike Nielsen and composer Jane O’Leary at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

In 2003, he was awarded with an “IMRO/Newpark” scholarship to study jazz composition with Irish composer Ronan Guilfoyle, at “Newpark Music Centre”, in Dublin. Francesco has played with the “Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM)” Big Band and has collaborated with some of the most respected musicians in the Irish jazz scene.

As a free lance artist he is currently working with his quartet, Francesco Amico – electric guitar, Patrice Brun – Tenor Saxophone, Peter Erdei – Electric bass guitar, Andy O’Farrel – drums and as an educator.
