Wicklow will make the long-trip north to play Ballyclare in the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland Junior Cup.
George Naoupu’s Wicklow men advanced to the last-eight of the competition following a dominant 52-3 win over last-year’s runners-up Kilfeacle. Meanwhile, their Ulster opponents progressed following a 21-10 win over Connemara — with the impressive Robbie Reid nabbing 16 of those points.
The draw for the All-Ireland Junior Cup quarter-finals was made on Monday, with Wicklow’s fellow Leinster representatives learning their fate for the last-eight. Defending champions Ashbourne face an away day clash against Waterpark — who made their return to the Junior Cup for the first time in nine years when they beat Carrickfergus 37-7 in the first-round.
Meanwhile, the quarter-finals will feature a mouth-watering Leinster derby, as Enniscorthy host Dundalk. Both sides had to come from behind to make the last-eight, with Enniscorthy clawing back an 18-5 deficit to defeat Richmond 32-18, while Dundalk had to recover from being 14 points down to beat Instonians 17-14.
The quarter-finals for the 2018 All-Ireland Junior Cup will take place on Saturday, the 10th of November. The four winning teams will advance to the semi-finals, which will be held on the 15th of December.
