There was joy for two players from Co. Wicklow who won €88,000 between them in last Saturday’s Winning Streak TV gameshow. One of the biggest winners of the night was a lucky shopkeeper from Co. Wicklow who won €58,000 in cash prizes.
Teresa Byrne from Aughrim, Co. Wicklow wasn’t watching Winning Streak last Saturday evening so she missed her name being called out by the show’s presenters, Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy. Co-incidentally she was a guest at the National Lottery Good Causes Awards at the time with her daughter Caoimhe! A call came through from her brother-in-law and there was great excitement at her table!
Teresa was at the awards as she is a retailer and runs the Londis store in Aughrim with her husband Peter. In fact, the store has been run by the family for the past 82 years since it was opened by her father-in-law in 1936. Teresa has been married to Peter for the past 48 years and the pair are proud parents to eight children, all of whom were in RTÉ studios on Saturday night to cheer their mother on.
Teresa was also joined in the Winning Streak contestants’ seats by Bray’s Margaret O’Brien who won an impressive €20,000 in cash prizes.
Margaret had her daughter to thank for her appearance on the TV gameshow as it was her daughter, Mary’s name which was pulled out of the drum. Margaret always puts her children’s name on the scratch cards she sends in and Mary clearly seems to be the lucky one as her name came up trumps!
Margaret’s Winning Streak appearance and €20,000 win really could not have come at a better time as in just four weeks her son Timmy will marry his fiancée Joanna.
