All-Ireland winner named Wicklow intermediate football manager

James Kelly has been appointed as manager of the Wicklow intermediate ladies football team, the county board has announced.

The Ballinakill, County Laois-native succeeds Mick O’Rourke, who stepped down from the role in August after guiding Wicklow to the division four league title with a 100% record, as well as a Leinster championship final.

Kelly takes the reigns of the Wicklow job having previously coached the Laois All-Ireland Minor B winning squad in 2013, as well as managing the Leinster championship winning schools side at Heywood at under-14 and under-16 level.

He will be joined by selectors Emer Miley and Mick Kavanagh, while Shay Dunne will take charge of the strength and conditioning of the players.

Meanwhile, the county board have also announced that Bill Walsh’s Aspire Technology will provide sponsorship the 2019 season.
