Carnew notes week December 10th



Sincere sympathy is extended to the Joyce and Bolger families on the death of Kathleen Joyce nee Bolger, Clonroche last week.

To the family and relatives of Nellie Lennon, nee Keogh, Hillbrook who died last week and was buried on Sunday in Coolfancy cemetery.


The winner of Scoli Aodan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot of the 30th November was The O’Neill family, Mill Lane.


Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 18,19,29,32, lucky dips were Claire Byrne, c/o K. Keogh. Tommy Wafer, Kilcavan.  Pat Kinsella, c/o Hatchet. John Collins, c/o Willie. The next draw is 17th December in Jim Byrne’s and the jackpot is €3,000. Tickets on sale from players or local shops.


Carnew AGM was held on Friday 30th November in Kenny’s with a good crowd attending, officers elected were chairman Tim Balfe, secterary Niamh Myers,  treasurer Mick Greene, PRO Damien Osborne.


Details of Tinahely Walking Club Sunday walks for the next two weeks:

Dec. 9:  Askamore. Level B, 12km, 3.5hrs. Meet Askamore car park 10.30am.

Dec. 16: Deputy’s Pass, Glenealy. Level B, 10km, 3hrs. Meet Tinahely 10am or Mill Bridge, Rathdrum 10.30am.

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink.

The collection of blankets and baby knit wear for Crumlin hospital will take place on Monday 17th December 2018 at 3pm in Carnew Community Care. A nurse from the hospital will attend. All who have contributed in any way are very welcome to come along. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Ballyellis National School “Split the Pot”

Friday 7th December 2018  winner of   “Split the Pot” is  Noah Murphy, Drummond   –  winning €173.   We thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”.

Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church.

Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.
