Carnew notes week December 24th


The winner of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot of 14th was PJ Hennessy winning €260, sellers prize was Michael Kennedy, tickets on sale from the school or local shops.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Angela Fitzpatrick (Nee O’Grady), Clonegal who died during the week, her remains were removed from Lennon’s funeral home Bunclody on Wednesday morning for 12 mass in Clonegal followed by burial in the new cemetery.
To the family and relatives of Charlie Hempenstall, Wexford and formerly of Craanford who died during the week and was buried on Wednesday morning.
To the family and relatives of Bernie Doran, (Nee Fitzpatrick , Croneyhorn,)Graiguemore House who died during the week, her remains were removed to Carnew on Friday for 2pm mass, followed by burial in Tomacork cemetery.
Get well wishes go to Katie Byrne, Community Village.
The next bingo will be on Sunday 6th January at 2.30pm in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew. If people would like to keep their used stamps for the missions and leave a good piece around them, they can be left into any of the churches.
The Gap Vintage club are holding a vintage car and tractor run on Sunday 30th December from The Gap Pub, Ballythomas, in aid of St Aidan’s Day Centre, Gorey, registration is from 11.30am, all are welcome to come along.
GOAL Mile – New Year’s Day 2019 in Tinahely
GOAL Mile will take place on New Year’s Day 2019 at 12 noon in Tinahely. This is a national family event open to all to help raise funds for GOAL’s work globally. Donations will be accepted on the day. The start & finish will be Murphy’s Hotel, Tinahely. Refreshments will also be served here afterwards kindly sponsored by Sam & Colin Horan. Dec. 23: ‘Mince Pie Walk’, Stookeen Hill. Level C, 8km, 2.5hrs. Meet Walker’s Car Park, Shillelagh 10.30am.

Dec 30: Annaghcurragh Level B, 10km, 3hrs. Meet Tinahely 10am or Annacurragh Church car park 10.15am

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink.
