Grand hotel has closed its doors to the public

The Grand hotel in Wicklow town which is being used as a Direct Provision centre has closed its doors to the public.

Last month it was revealed that the hotel would no longer be able to accommodate visitors to the town, as the 33 bedrooms were being used to house Asylum seekers.

At the time a statement the owners of the hotel said  “Our Non-bedroom business will be unaffected i.e. bar, ballroom, club will continue to operate as normal. Concerts will continue as will many other events and bookings”

However the hotel is now closed and is completely out of bounds to members of the public.
