Status Orange Wind Warning in place

A Status Orange Wind Warning has been issued by MET Eireann (Storm Deirdre) will then be in place from 2pm until 11pm tonight.

Gardai and the AA are warning motorists to drive with caution.

Emergency services attended a multiple crash on the Southbound lane of the N11 at the Glen of the Downs earlier today.

Spot flooding has been reported in many parts of the county.

Windy today with spells of rain, turning heavy at times with a risk of local spot flooding. Strong and blustery southeasterly winds will veer westerly this evening and it will become stormy for a few hours with gale force westerly winds for a few hours with some severe and damaging gusts of 100 to 120km/h. Afternoon highs of 9 to 12 degrees Celsius. Turning colder this evening.

TONIGHT – SATURDAY 15TH DECEMBER

The rain will clear early tonight and winds will abate quickly overnight. It will be mostly dry but there will be a few showers. Cold with temperatures falling to 1 to 3 degrees Celsius with some frost developing around dawn.
