Congratulations to Noeleen Whelan who has won the 2018 Wicklow Camogie volunteer of the year award. Noeleen and her husband Paul play a huge role in both camogie and G.A.A. in Aughrim. Paul has coached and managed under aged teams in Aughrim for many years and managed and played for our adult team as well. Their son Dermot is on the present Junior A team and is also playing for D.C.U. fresher’s team. Noeleen will receive her award at the Camogie Association function in Croke Park on Saturday January 26th. Our sympathy goes out to Aughrim clubman Keith Stephenson on the sad passing of his fiancé Tere and also to his children Dylan and Maria. Congratulations to Aughrim’s Sean Cambell who has been selected on the Wicklow Minor County panel for 2019. Our adult team returned to the field last Saturday for training and it was great to see a good turnout of young and not so young players eager for action.

Aughrim CFR would like to wish Philip O’Dwyer the best of luck in his paramedic training with the East Midlands Ambulance Service. Philip has been a valued member of the group for many years and contributed even further by becoming our instructor. His dedication as an instructor and first responder is commendable and we greatly appreciate his commitment to the group and community. This is not goodbye however as he will still partake in training the group and cover shifts as he travels back and forth to the UK. We wish him good luck and all of our support as he fulfills his ambition. It’s hard to hold a good man back!
Items to be included in the Aughrim notes should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org before 8 p.m. on Sundays. Do not send attachments.
