The Avoca Senior Citizen Committee wish to thank Myles Doyle for his presentation, during the afternoon, of a cheque for €4,718 partly from the proceeds of the clothes recycling bank at the Avoca Recycling Centre, also from the sale of the second hand books the proceeds of which are collected in the Senior Citizens buckets which can be found at: Avoca Post Office. Avoca Chemist. Hendley’s Shop and Café. Kelly’s Bar. P.G. Rowley’s Rathdrum. Leo’s Bar Conary. Ferriers In. White Bridge. The Meetings Avoca and Delaney’s Shop Woodenbridge.
Many thanks to the shops that support this scheme and to all the staff at the Avoca Recycling Centre for their help. Our thanks are also extended to Philip Lee and the Elves of Avoca Village for their generous donation of €700, collected from their Festive Function held at Fitzgerald’s Pub Avoca during the Christmas season. Our thanks also to Ind. Councillor Miriam Murphy and to Mary O’Toole for their most generous contributions. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all who contribute and collect for our local Senior Citizens.
On the day, the committee presenting Mylie with a token of their appreciation and thanks for the 10 years of help he has given towards the Avoca Senior Citizens. We also extend our thanks to management and staff at the Woodenbridge Hotel for the beautiful meal they served and for the attention we received throughout the day. Thanks also to Carmel Coates for her very entertaining music and songs through the afternoon, Dynamix, the Barber Shop Choir who also sung for us and Tricia Kavanagh with the Avoca Miners, a group of very talented young musicians from Avoca and Aughrim, playing their beautiful Irish Music. Together with a song from Liam, Tricia’s young son they soon had the audience applauding for more. Much dancing and singing supplied by our own Senior Citizens when on throughout the afternoon, which all made for a very enjoyable party. Our thanks to all who attended and contributed to the day.
