Avonmore Musical are delighted and excited to be staging the Dolly Parton Musical “9 to 5” for their 40th Anniversary production this year. The show will run from 23rd – 27th April, 2019 and promises to be a great fun filled show with a very witty script and great music, book is by Patricia Resnick and Music and Lyrics by Dolly Parton.
The cast for “9 to 5” is as follows: Violet – Jenny Lee, Judy – Denise Brennan, Doralee – Eimear Harper, Roz – Dearbhla Mc Creesh, Franklin Hart Jr – TBC, while Missy is being played by – Genevieve Molloy, Joe – TBC, Dwyane – Brian Harty, Dick – Tomas Byrne, Josh – Padraig O’ Leary, Tinsworthy – Robert Donnelly, Marie – Tara Boukhima, Margaret – Joanne Logue, Kathy – Sharon Byrne, backed up by a large chorus.
This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Based on the 1980 smash hit film in which Dolly Parton starred, this highly acclaimed Broadway musical was nominated for no less than four Tony Awards. Some of the hits from the show include “Hart to Hart”, “Let Love Grow”, “Get out and stay out” and of course “9 to 5” and much more.
“9 to 5” is about Three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world. Set in the late 1970s. this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?
This high-energy show has a jubilant score and easily relatable characters.

Chorus rehearsals for the show commence on Wednesday 16th January at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s College, Arklow with Amy Penston doing Voice Rehearsals, while Dance Rehearsals with Martina Lynch take place on Thursday 17trh Jan, again in St. Mary’s College, Arklow at 7.30pm. Our chorus is open to members who are aged 16+ (or in Transition Year). Men are especially welcome, so why not come out and give it a go.
