Motorists are being advised to use caution when driving on Wednesday morning.
Temperatures could go as low as -5 in some areas of the county tonight.
Gardai are advising motorists to avoid the Sally Gap (R759) as this route is impassable following snowfall.
Remember stopping distances are 10 times longer in ice and snow, and that gentle manoeuvres are the key to safe driving.
A Status Yellow – Snow-ice warning will remain in place until 12 noon on Saturday.
Cold and frosty overnight with lows of 0 to -3 degrees. It will be largely dry with clear skies. Westerly winds will be light to moderate. Ice could form on roads as well.

Generally dry and sunny tomorrow, just a few isolated wintry showers in the morning. Still cold with highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees in light westerly breezes.
NATIONAL OUTLOOK
Very cold conditions expected in the coming days with showers or longer spells of rain, a mixture of hail, sleet and snow at times, but sunny spells also. There will be overnight frosts and icy conditions in many areas.
Wednesday night: A mainly dry and cold with widespread frost and ice patches forming overnight. Lowest temperatures of between -1 to -5 degrees in light to moderate easterly breezes.
