Wicklow boxing to be showcased in Michael Andrews semi-finals

Enniskerry’s Johnny Lynch will be fighting fellow Wicklow boxer Tadhg Cahill in the semi-finals of the Michael Andrews Tournament this weekend, with seven boxers from the county set to compete in the National Stadium

Lynch will be taking on Cahill from St. Teresa’s in the 37kg semi-final on Saturday, with the winner squaring off against either Josh Katus or David McDonagh in the final.

Cahill will be joined by fellow gym-mates Jaiden Buckley (37kg Vs Jake Lawlor) and Paddy Martin (29kg Vs Davy Nevin)

Meanwhile, Seán Byrne will be one of the three Arklow representatives at the tournament when he fights Kilcullen’s Patrick Nevin at 27kg.

He will be joined in the final four by Arklow’s Harry White (43kg vs Davey Francis Nevin) and Niamh Molloy (44.5kg vs Ruby Hynes).

The semi-finals of the 2019 Michael Andrews Tournament takes place in The National Stadium in Dublin on Saturday the 12th of January, with the first bell-time at 10am and fights finishing at 5pm.
