Blessington Credit Union situation must be addressed

blessington credit union

Councillor Gerry O’Neill has queried the decision by Blessington Credit Union to give notice to three tenants to ”quit” their small
rented units which are adjacent to the Credit Union in Blessington.

He said ” I have asked the Management of the Credit Union to explain why the three Tenants have been given one month to move out.

OneTenant is there twenty three years and these are very small units with very small turnover. This will mean the dole for some of these people.

There are 5 units with 3 occupied and I believe the Credit Union should be encouraging these small enterprises instead of putting them out of business. A Credit Union is a member owned financial cooperative controlled by it’s members and operated on the principle of people helping people.

There was always great respect and cooperation with the Credit Union and the people of Blessington and District and I hope there is a quick resolution to this present
issue”

A meeting will be held in the Coimin Centre on Monday the 11th of February at 7.30pm in support of the businesses.
