Bray Wanderers have been handed a home tie against Wexford Football Club in the first round of the EA Sports Cup.
The draw for the opening round took place on Wednesday, with holders Cobh Ramblers welcoming Limerick to St. Colman’s Park on March the 4th.
Gary Cronin’s Bray side last welcomed Wexford FC to the Carlisle Grounds in 2016, winning 3-0 in the league thanks to goals from Dean Kelly, Andrew Lewis, and Karl Moore.
Wexford were relegated from the Premier Division that season, and have toiled in the First Division since.
Bray will go into the cup tie with Wexford having not made it past the first-round since 2017, when they were knocked out by St. Patrick’s Athletic on penalties in the second-phase.
The Seagulls will be favourites to progress on the 4th of March, having spent the off-season rebuilding following a turbulent 2018 season that saw them relegated from the Premier Division, after a campaign bogged down by financial struggles, industrial action by players, and an eventual change in ownership.
Bray Wanderers vs Wexford FC in first-round of the EA Sports Cup takes place on Monday, the 4th of March, with kick-off at 19:45.
