Carnew notes week February 18th


Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Eleanor Kidd, nee Stephens,  Valentia Nursing Home, Camolin and Motabower who died during the week and was buried on Friday following 2pm service in All Saints Church Carnew.



A service for the World day of Prayer will be held in Carnew Community Care Centre on Friday 1st March at 3.30pm, tea will be served at 3pm, this year the service  is prepared by the people of Slovenia, all welcome.


South Wicklow Drama Festival – Launch

The launch of the South Wicklow Drama Festival will take place in Jim Byrne’s Lounge, Carnew on Thursday the 28th of February. Sponsors and Patrons or anyone who would like to become a patron are all welcome.



Carnew Heritage club held their AGM on Thursday 7th February in Kenny’s Pint Depot with a good crowd attending the following officers were elected

The following are the walks for the next two weeks for Tinahely walking club

Feb 24: Slievebawn-Tomduff, Level B, 10km, 3hrs. Meet Bunclody 10am

Mar 3: Little Sugar Loaf/Lobawn, Level B, 14km, 3.5hrs. Meet Tinahely 10am

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink.


Scoil Aodán Naofa, Carnew is now accepting enrolments for incoming Junior Infants for the school year 2019/20.

Scoil Aodán Naofa is a Co-Ed, inclusive, vertical school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Ferns. We are pleased to announce this year the opening of a class for children with autism in September 2019 subject to Dept. of Education funding and the fulfilment of criteria as laid out in the school’s admission policy for it’s ASD Class.

The school has many National Awards to it’s credit including Active Schools Flag, Green Flag Status, Science and Maths awards and School of Excellence awards for Literacy. Ballyellis National School Enrolment Forms for September 2019

Enrolment forms are now available for those wishing to enrol in September 2019.

Ballyellis National School “Split the Pot”

Friday 15th February  2019   winner of  “Split the Pot” is   Sean McLarnon & Katelyn Nolan, Carnew,  winning €156.   We thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Mass in Askamore Church.. Draws will take place every Friday morningin Ballyellis School.



The winner of 15th FEBRUARY of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot was won by Bríd and Niall Kavanagh who won €232. Congratulations.

The winners of our Valentines Hampers were Brendan Lawrence and Tom Darcy.

The sellers prize was won by MJ Hughes who won a €10 voucher for Victors and the lucky dip winner was Tristan Massey
